Rūaumoko - Childrens T-shirt
Rūaumoko plays an important role in the Māori creation narrative. Rūaumoko is the youngest child of Ranginui (Sky Father) and Papatūānuku (Earth Mother) and is the Māori god of earthquakes and volcanoes. Rūaumoko is also known as Rūaimoko, Whakarūaumoko and Rūaimokoroa.
It is said that when Papatūānuku was turned downwards, Rūaumoko went with her and stayed underground. He was given fire to keep him warm.
Some Māori believe that earthquakes are caused by the god Rūaumoko and the rumblings that disturb the land are made by him as he walks about.
Let the legend of Rūaumoko remind us of the incredible forces that shape our world and the intricate harmony that underlies its creation.
