Mana Motuhake Wāhine Tihatī
Mana Motuhake Wāhine Tihatī
Mana Motuhake is a Māori phrase that embodies the idea of self-determination, emphasising the importance of Māori to control Māori rights and issues. This principle is deeply ingrained in Māori culture, reflecting the desire for Māori to govern themselves, maintain their cultural identity, and protect their tikanga. While the term is sometimes translated as "sovereignty," mana motuhake carries a broader meaning, encompassing not just political independence but also the preservation of reo, tikanga, and all that encompasses te ao Māōri.
